The Seminar on “Gender Dynamics in Public School” was held on 21st April 2023 on the premises of Kathmandu University School of Arts, Balkumari, Lalitpur. There were altogether 10 participants, among which 7 were female and 3 were male.
One of the most important frameworks for comprehending gender dynamics is the capability approach. The topic of this session’s discussion was “Amartya Sen’s Capability Approach and Social Justice in Education.” The main emphasis was on identifying and measuring the relationship between capability and educational inequality, as well as the methods used to measure the disparities.
The contributions of Rosie Vaughan were emphasized to comprehend the conceptualization of education and capabilities. The various meanings of gender, education, and equality put forth by Elaine Unterhalter were presented as well. With these, the workshop came to a close with suggestions for selecting capabilities that will most effectively ensure gender equality in education.
