Education Committee Meeting Concludes Regarding the Expansion of ‘LIKE’ Clubs in Bhojpur Municipality

Bhojpur, August 26 (Bhadra 10). A special meeting and discussion program was concluded at the municipality hall, chaired by the Mayor and Chairperson of the City Education Committee of Bhojpur Municipality.

The meeting was organized on August 26 (Bhadra 10) with the objective of expanding the ‘LIKE Clubs’—formed under the project run by the ‘Learning, Innovation and Knowledge Exchange’ (LIKE) Lab under the Faculty of Humanities at Kathmandu University—to an additional 30 community schools within the municipality.

Considering the success of the LIKE Clubs operated over the past year in 13 community schools of Bhojpur Municipality with the support of GPE-KIX and IDRC, a decision was made to extend the program to the remaining schools. These clubs have proven effective in promoting gender equality, equity, and social inclusion while enhancing children’s educational and life skills.

The meeting, chaired by the Mayor, saw a dense attendance of headmasters from 40 community schools within the municipality. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the achievements, learnings, and future action plan of the clubs operated in the 13 schools over the previous year.

At the program, the Mayor stated that the municipality is committed to developing schools into safe, inclusive, and tech-friendly learning centers by prioritizing children’s voices. Furthermore, he informed that in the coming days, forming clubs in the remaining 30 schools will further strengthen students’ leadership abilities and social inclusion.

The headmasters present at the meeting expressed their full commitment to supporting the establishment and operation of LIKE Clubs in their respective schools.
