On 23rd April 2023, a training on STATA, a statistical software used for data analysis and visualization, was provided to young researchers at Kathmandu University School of Arts, Balkumari, Lalitpur. There were a total of 10 participants, 3 of whom were men and 7 of whom were women. The training was facilitated by Dr. Santosh Adhikary, an assistant professor at Kathmandu University.
The training focused on providing participants with an overview of STATA’s fundamental characteristics and features, as well as the skills and knowledge required to analyze and present data using the software program. Its key features and its research and analysis applications were also highlighted.
The training then proceeded with a series of hands-on exercises and demonstrations, where participants learned how to use different commands to process the available data in STATA. The exercises covered a range of topics, including data importing, summarizing, replacing, destringing, and many more.
Overall, the training provided an opportunity for participants to learn about the basic features and functions of STATA and to develop their skills in data analysis. The training then came to a close with the promise of another session where they could put their newly acquired knowledge and skills to use in their research and analysis. In a second training on data visualization, participants will learn how to make graphs and charts to clearly communicate their findings. The training will also cover a variety of graph types, including bar charts, line charts, scatter plots, and histograms.
