[News]: Distribution of First Aid Boxes in Rural Public Schools of Rautahat to improve health and safety

In a groundbreaking move to prioritize the safety and well-being of rural students, Learning Innovation and Knowledge Exchange (LIKE) Lab, came up with an initiative to distribute first aid boxes to rural public schools of Rautahat. This initiative aims to bridge the gap in healthcare accessibility by ensuring that even the most remote educational institutions have the necessary tools to handle medical emergencies effectively.

From 18th June to 28th June 2023, in total 25 public schools of which 8 schools from Yamunamai Rural Municipality and 17 schools of Durgabhagwati Rural Municipality were reached. The boxes were also distributed to the 2 rural municipalities. By extending the distribution of first aid boxes beyond schools, the initiative aims to create a more inclusive safety environment, benefitting both the students and residents alike.

With the provision of these well-equipped first aid boxes, schools in rural areas will have the means to respond promptly and effectively in the event of accidents, injuries, or medical emergencies. Each box includes essential supplies such as bandages, antiseptics, sterile dressings, adhesive tapes, gloves, and a range of basic medical equipment.

This initiative was a part of the research project “Effectiveness and Scalability of Programs for Children Who Are Out of School and at Risk of Dropping Out in Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal” which is supported by the Global Partnership for Education Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (GPE KIX), International Development Research Centre (IDRC), and Kathmandu University School of Arts (KUSOA).
