BHOJPUR, NEPAL, MAY 26, 2024 – The Local Level Educational Stakeholders Meet was held in Bhojpur Municipality, Bhojpur District, marking an inception to address gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) in schools. This inaugural meeting aimed to initiate dialogue and collaboration among key local stakeholders, fostering innovative approaches and solutions to promote GESI in education.
The meet witnessed the participation of notable figures such as Kailash Kumar Ale, Mayor of Bhojpur Municipality, the Ward Head of Ward No. 7, the Education Officer of Bhojpur Municipality, principals from 13 community schools, and GESI Focal Persons from these schools. The 31 attendees comprised 22 males and 9 females, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity and diverse representation.
Mayor Kailash Kumar Ale opened the event with a warm welcome address, underscoring the significance of research initiatives like this in driving social change and enhancing educational outcomes. Following the Mayor, the Principal Investigator provided an overview of the project, detailing its objectives and intended impact.
An open floor discussion followed, allowing participants to share their insights, experiences, and suggestions regarding GESI. This interactive session was crucial in highlighting the local context and needs, ensuring that the project’s strategies are finely tuned to address the specific challenges and aspirations of the community.
The meeting concluded with a closing address from the Education Officer of Bhojpur Municipality, who reaffirmed the local administration’s support for the project, for impactful interventions aimed at promoting gender equality and social inclusion in schools.
