[News]: Distribution of GESI posters in public schools of Yamunamai Rural Municipality and Durgabhagwati Rural Municipality, Promoting Inclusivity and Gender Equality

In a significant step towards promoting gender equality and social inclusion in public education, Learning Innovation and Knowledge Exchange Lab (LIKE Lab) distributed gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) illustrative posters in two rural municipalities of Rautahat. The awareness program which took place from 18th June to 28th June 2023, aimed to raise awareness among teachers and students and encourage positive change in societal attitudes and practices.

Over the course of the Eleven-day program, the team visited 8 schools of Yamunamai Rural Municipality and 17 schools of Durgabhagwati Rural Municipality, engaging with teachers and students, and highlighting the importance of GESI in schools as represented in the posters.The distribution process involved displaying the posters prominently in each classroom, ensuring maximum visibility and impact. 

This awareness program through distribution of GESI posters is in the hope of ensuring equal access to students, regardless of their gender and social background. By promoting inclusiveness and challenging discriminatory practices, this campaign aspires to empower students to become agents of change within their community. 

The poster distribution program is a part of the “Effectiveness and Scalability of Programs for Children Who Are Out of School and at Risk of Dropping Out in Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal” which is supported by the Global Partnership for Education Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (GPE KIX), International Development Research Centre (IDRC), and Kathmandu University School of Arts (KUSOA).
